Skilled and Trades Construction Manager Carpenter

Position: Part-time Program Coordinator: 10 - 20 hrs./week. Salary commensurate with experience.


Reports to: Program Manager, Jamie Gibson


Organization: Rebuilding Together® Boston (RTB) is the Boston affiliate of Rebuilding Together, a national organization that renovates houses of people unable to pay for essential home repairs and muchn eeded updates. Non-profit organizations that own their own facilities are also eligible for RTB's assistance. There is no cost to the recipients. RTB organizes and collaborates with skilled workers, tradespeople, volunteers, and other community members.


RTB recipients own their homes or facility, but they cannot afford to pay for critical repairs due to many factors beyond their control. These include rising property taxes; fixed incomes that have not kept pace with the cost of living; and loss of income or financial hardship resulting from medical emergencies or advancing age. Since our founding in 1991, RTB has completed over 700 renovation projects (often top to bottom major repairs for an estimated total value of over $8 million). We rely on financial support from individual contributors, foundations, and corporations to carry out RTB's mission.


Qualifications:

• Construction and project management experience

• Understanding of construction principals, ability to assess projects, and provide a detailed scope

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Docs and data management

• Ability to communicate effectively with homeowners and community partners.

• Ability to work well under pressure, think independently and solve problems and meet deadlines.

• Have transport or own a vehicle to access sites in the Boston Metro Area and North Shore of Boston.

• Must be able to lift fifty pounds and participate in activities that require physical exertion

• Ability to lead and/or assistant volunteer groups managing construction and repairs to home and nonprofits. Capability to manage projects independently and report back clearly and quickly on project progress.

• Strong organizational skills, including strategic planning, systems of work, and organizing teams.

• Interest and commitment to the RTB mission


Duties and Responsibilities:

Safe at Home Program

• Conduct on-site assessments of homes employing the Rebuilding Together 25-point Safe and Healthy Home Checklist

• Develop small and large scopes and perform minor repairs on site.

• Conduct work such as installing grab bars, GFCI, remove carpeting, install LED lighting.

• Submit a weekly log of all activities to Program Manager

ReBuild Service Days:

• Prepare detailed material plans, coordinate schedules, identify vendors, estimate volunteer hours required for selected projects and order materials. Must be able to exercise sound judgment and confidentiality.

• Be the point person for Project Day volunteers (may require some weekend work)

• Support volunteer development to enhance RTB’s practices and quality


Workforce Development:

• Serve as liaison between RTB and additional vendors.


Other duties include coordinating with homeowners, outreach in community, stock and organize the warehouse.


Reporting:

• Ensure that all expenses and work completed are recorded on a per home/project basis

• Record photos of work and support publicity efforts for Rebuilding Together Boston

• Maintain and update contact database in Salesforce for beneficiaries

• Other tasks as needed and requested
